Add this Mexican Gold coin to your collection and own a piece of Aztec history. The Mexican Gold coins on the obverse feature a rendering of the Aztec Sun Stone, which was discovered in 1790 buried in the main square of Mexico City. Been looking to buy one of these for a while. Rec'd a 1959 (expected), coin is at least near-flawless, looks like it just came from a mint tube. Great looking coin, intricate detail, low cost over spot, very pleased.

Not AU-BU. Dull with wear

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Received two 1918 coins. One is in a little better condition than the other but both seem to be in VF+ condition due to wear. Both look to be cleaned & one has some discoloration on it. Was pleased that I got one of the earlier dates, but disappointed in the condition. I hope the 50 peso that I ordered that is in processing will be better than these.

Mine appears cleaned

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

My "AU/BU" coin arrived with signs of having been cleaned, and a couple larger scratches. Not going to bother filing an exchange since it still has decent eye appeal and the premium wasn't too bad, but Apmex needs to sort these better. Still an OK deal for the price.

A Favorite

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

This design is one of my favorites. Very attractive and not so small that it is hard to appreciate the detail. In addition, the premium is quite low for a "fractional" coin. Most are 1959 strikes, but once in a while you get a different year, which is cool. I will continue to order these.

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell

  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
